Know Your Wine Styles! The Key to Talking About and Understanding Wine
It is impossible to keep straight the thousands of grape varieties and regional wines that exist. However, a grasp of the principal wine styles gives us a head-start in describing and comparing wines and identifying our own preferences. Also, yes, there is such a thing as an Old World (European) wine style and a New World wine style. The distinction is a generalization, but it is true far more often than not. Find out all about wine styles as we compare 10 different wines.

Pinot Noir has a colorful reputation. It has been called “funky”, “silky”, “the feminine counterpart to Bordeaux’s masculine wines”, “full of finesse”, and “indescribable.” Come explore its world-wide expression and be seduced….

Knock-Out Reds: The World’s Most Powerful Red Varieties
This class is for lovers of bold wines – bold in aroma and flavor, and often in color, alcohol, and structure (tannin and acidity). Taste some grapes you don’t know, such as Tannat, or undiscovered regional wines, such as Malbec from Cahors. Then taste the boldest expressions of the grapes and regions that you do know. These are the wines to have around at your next wild boar barbecue.

The Truth about Wine and Cheese
This is such a complex area of discussion, that one clear, and clearly explained, take on the pairing of wine and cheese is useful. Cheeses fall into a small number of categories and wines are characterized by several styles. We will learn the most available and well-liked cheeses within each category and the most common wines within each style of wine; and why certain categories of cheese go better with certain styles of wine.

For Beginners Only! Wine Tasting, Grape Varieties, Labels and more
In a relaxed, fun atmosphere we will ask the simplest (and most important) questions about what makes wine different, interesting and varied. You will practice tasting as a wine expert tastes, learn how to read wine bottle labels, and discover which styles of wine you like best. Drinking wine will never be the same! Finally, this is your chance to ask any and all questions you may have about wine.

In the world of wine, France is special. It is the birthplace of most of the principal grape varieties of the world. It is the “mother ship” from which vine cuttings have been sent around the world. Furthermore, French wines are unique. This is due to the variations in geography and climate found in France and to the fact that the French, through laws and wine-making practices, make wines that express the soil and climate from which they come. Join us as we tour this wonderland of distinctive wines.

Just in time for the warm weather, we will kick back and sip a carefully selected flight of 10 different summer wines. Should you find that your summer will be much fresher and more enjoyable with one or more of these wines, they will all be available in local wine shops.
